Dan John has a new number to play: I’m Game is now playing in cinemas worldwide after opening on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Dulquer Salmaan leads Nahas Hidhayath’s action thriller as a gambler who trusts algorithms more than luck, only to discover that staying in control is harder than reading the table.
Anyone still holding the old August 20 date should fold it. Wayfarer Films moved the film by two weeks for a wider simultaneous launch in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.

Why the release date changed
I’m Game was first scheduled for August 20, placing it inside the Onam-season race. The production later shifted the movie to September 3, saying the extra time would support a bigger release across markets. This is a confirmed replacement date, not a second premiere or an OTT date.
The multilingual plan was part of that wider push. The Malayalam original opened with Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada versions on the same date, so viewers did not have to wait for a later dubbed-language window.
What kind of movie is I’m Game?
The trailer introduces Dan John as a man deep inside a high-stakes gambling network. He treats probability like armour, boasting that he understands the algorithm behind the game. The images around him tell a less comfortable story: money, violence, fractured loyalties and a phone call he struggles to answer while covered in blood.
That clash between calculation and chaos becomes the film’s strongest idea. Dan wants every move to have a number behind it, while a transplanted hand pulls him into someone else’s unfinished conflict. Our I’m Game review rates the film 3/5, praising Dulquer Salmaan and the inventive setup while finding that the long revenge detour weakens the second half.
Who is behind the film?
Nahas Hidhayath directs from his own story. Sajeer Baba, Bilal Moidu and Ismail Aboobacker wrote the screenplay, while Adarsh Sukumaran, Shabas Rasheed and Sajeer Baba are credited for the dialogues. Jimshi Khalid handles cinematography, Chaman Chakko edits and Jakes Bejoy composes the music and original score.
The disclosed ensemble includes Dulquer Salmaan, Kayadu Lohar, Mysskin, Antony Varghese, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Vinay Forrt and Kathir. Wayfarer Films backs the movie, with Dulquer Salmaan and Jom Varghese producing.

What is confirmed for theatres, and what is not?
The September 3 date and five-language theatrical rollout are confirmed. A streaming service and OTT release date have not been announced, so cinemas remain the only current viewing window. The film carries a U/A 16+ certificate and runs just under three hours.
The clean answer is simple: I’m Game is now playing in cinemas, with Dulquer returning to a Malayalam lead role in a film built around gambling, revenge and a supernatural transplant twist.
