The Toledo Truth Teller is finally starting to resemble a real newspaper just as its editor and one of its reporters create an HR-sized problem. The Paper Season 2 premieres in the US on Peacock on September 9, 2026, with all 10 episodes arriving together.
The release date is less tidy outside the US. Sky and NOW have confirmed September 10 for the UK. JioHotstar is the expected Indian home, but Indian listings currently disagree between September 9 and September 10, so the exact local date should not be treated as settled yet.

When and where does The Paper Season 2 release?
Peacock’s US date is September 9, and this is a full-season binge rather than a weekly rollout. That means all 10 episodes can be watched from the first day. Sky and NOW follow with the complete season in the UK on September 10.
India needs a little more caution. JioHotstar has a page for The Paper, but local release guides are split: some list September 9 and others September 10. Until JioHotstar gives Season 2 an unambiguous date, the safest answer is that the Indian release is expected around the US premiere, with the exact day still needing confirmation.

What changes at the Toledo Truth Teller?
Season 2 begins after the staff sweep the Ohio Journalism Awards. Ned then chases a larger investigation involving a local private club, but the same crusade could put the newspaper itself in danger. The comedy now has a sharper pressure point: this team is becoming more capable, so its mistakes carry more weight.
The other complication is inside the newsroom. Ned and Mare have to decide what their attraction means when one is the editor-in-chief and the other reports to him. Esmeralda, meanwhile, is trying to work out where she belongs as the staff around her begin to function more like an editorial team.
Who plays Ned, Mare and Esmeralda?
Domhnall Gleeson returns as Ned Sampson, the relentlessly enthusiastic editor-in-chief trying to restore the Toledo Truth Teller. His hunt for a defining investigation gives the season its professional stakes, while his relationship with Mare complicates the newsroom dynamic.
Chelsea Frei plays Mare Pritti, a talented writer and former Army journalist who brings real reporting experience to a room full of enthusiastic amateurs. Mare is not simply Ned’s romantic interest. Her credibility makes the power imbalance between them the story’s most useful source of tension.
Sabrina Impacciatore is Esmeralda Grand, the managing editor responsible for the paper’s online operation. Season 2 follows Esmeralda’s attempt to find a place as the rest of the staff mature as reporters.
The returning newsroom ensemble
Oscar Nuñez reprises Oscar Martinez, making him the direct character bridge from The Office. He is again an accountant trapped in front of the same documentary crew, only now the chaos surrounds a local newspaper rather than Dunder Mifflin.
Melvin Gregg’s Detrick Moore begins on the advertising side but keeps drifting toward editorial work. Gbemisola Ikumelo’s Adelola Olofin and Alex Edelman’s Adam Cooper are accountants pulled into the newsroom orbit, while Ramona Young’s Nicole Lee works in circulation and remains Mare’s closest friend at the paper.
Eric Rahill returns as Travis Bienlien, a Softees employee and part-time reporter eager to join Ned’s latest schemes. Tim Key plays Ken Davies, the corporate strategist whose involvement rarely makes the newsroom simpler.
The most meaningful status change belongs to Duane Shepard Sr. as Barry Strokes. Barry is the Truth Teller’s veteran journalist and its remaining link to the paper before Ned’s revival project. Shepard moves from recurring guest star to series regular in Season 2.

The returning guest roster includes Allan Havey as CEO Marv Putnam, Nancy Lenehan as his assistant Ann Putnam, Nate Jackson as janitor Nate Wells and Zak Messinger as Esmeralda’s son Matteo. Matt Braunger also returns as Dan Kangpatrick.
