The Perfect Lie Cast Guide: Who Plays Karen, Michel and Evert?

Meet The Perfect Lie cast and characters, from Loes Haverkort as Karen to Teun Luijkx as Michel and Edwin Jonker as Evert.

The Perfect Lie cast is built around Loes Haverkort as Karen van der Made, the newcomer who walks into Bergen’s polished Dinner Club and begins questioning what holds it together. Teun Luijkx plays her husband Michel, while Noortje Herlaar and Edwin Jonker play Babette and Evert Struyck, the family at the centre of the villa fire that cracks the group open.

Loes Haverkort as Karen van der Made

Karen is the audience’s way into the Dinner Club. She moves to Bergen with Michel and their family, steps into an affluent circle that appears unusually close, and then starts pulling at its seams after Evert dies in a house fire.

That makes Haverkort the ensemble’s anchor rather than a detached detective. Karen wants the comfort and belonging the group seems to offer, but every answer threatens the new life she came to build. Netflix’s premise keeps the question personal: how much can she trust the people who welcomed her?

Teun Luijkx as Michel van der Made

Michel is Karen’s husband and the other half of the family arriving in Bergen. His place matters because Karen is not investigating from a safe distance. She is testing the stability of a social world that now surrounds their home and marriage.

The confirmed series material keeps Michel’s individual secrets out of view, so the useful distinction is structural: Karen drives the search for truth, while Michel shares the life that search could disrupt.

Noortje Herlaar as Babette Struyck

Babette is Evert’s wife. She and their children narrowly survive the villa fire that kills him, placing her family at the emotional centre of the group’s shock.

Herlaar’s role gives the mystery its most immediate human cost. Babette belongs to the established circle Karen is trying to understand, but she is also the survivor around whom sympathy, fear and unanswered questions gather.

Edwin Jonker as Evert Struyck

Evert is the Dinner Club member whose death turns the group’s polished friendship into a field of suspicion. The official setup establishes the fire and his death at the beginning of the mystery, not as an ending spoiler.

Jonker therefore remains central even when the plot moves through Karen’s questions and Babette’s survival. The drama is not only about what happened inside one villa. It is about what Evert’s death exposes in the relationships around him.

Four more confirmed character names

The remaining principal mappings are Rifka Lodeizen as Hanneke Lemstra, Charlie Chan Dagelet as Patricia de Jager, Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen as Simon de Jager and Remko Vrijdag as Ivo Smit. Their names are confirmed, but the available series previews do not yet give them individual story biographies.

How the Dinner Club ensemble fits together

The cleanest confirmed map has two family axes. Karen and Michel are the newcomers trying to build a life in Bergen. Babette and Evert are the family directly hit by the fire. Hanneke, Patricia, Simon and Ivo complete the principal credits, but the pre-release material does not map all of their relationships.

Netflix describes the series as a story about four apparently perfect couples forced to question what they know about one another. The cast guide can identify the eight credited principal roles, but the mystery depends on not assigning every secret, alliance or betrayal before the episodes reveal it.

Is The Perfect Lie connected to the 2010 Dinner Club film?

The Perfect Lie is a new seven-part adaptation of Saskia Noort’s novel The Dinner Club, not a continuation of the earlier film adaptation released in 2010.

Creator and writer Dorien Goertzen, working with co-writer Jop Esmeijer, has reshaped the narrative for television and updated the characters. That is the safest boundary for viewers who know the book or film: do not assume the same sequence of revelations or the same ending.

This map covers who is sitting around the Dinner Club table. Our The Perfect Lie OTT release guide handles the other half of the invitation: the September 10 Netflix date, India timing and why some viewers know the series as De Eetclub.
