Quick verdict: Isakapatnam is a watchable but uneven Telugu crime drama on Prime Video. Aishwarya Rajesh gives the series its sharpest pull as Bharati, while the show’s port-town power games, betrayals and revenge arcs offer enough movement for a weekend binge. The problem is that the writing keeps circling familiar gangster-drama beats, so the series feels engaging in parts rather than truly gripping.
Rating: 2.5/5. Watch it if you enjoy formula crime dramas with family conflict, political muscle and a few timed twists. Skip it if you want a fresh, emotionally heavy crime saga that fully uses its setting.

Isakapatnam review: what works
The best thing about Isakapatnam is that it understands the basic pleasure of a pulpy crime series. Naidu’s rise, Bharati’s resistance, Pratap’s rivalry and the collateral damage around them give the seven-episode story enough conflict to keep moving.
Aishwarya Rajesh is the clear highlight. Bharati could have become a simple rebel-daughter role, but the performance gives her a controlled anger and a moral spine. She is most convincing when the show lets her challenge Naidu’s world without turning every scene into a speech.
The series also benefits from a few smartly placed reveals. It is not the kind of thriller that leaves you stunned, but the episode-to-episode rhythm is tidy enough to make the binge feel lighter than its crime-drama template.
Where the series falls short
The biggest issue is familiarity. A powerful local don, a daughter pushing back, a rival waiting to strike, cops trying to manage the mess, loyal men carrying private wounds: Isakapatnam has all the ingredients, but it rarely finds a new flavour inside them.
That also hurts the emotional centre. The show wants the father-daughter clash to cut deeper, but the writing often chooses plot movement over emotional pressure. You understand why everyone is angry, ambitious or wounded; you just do not always feel it strongly enough.
Samuthirakani has presence, but Naidu is written in a straight, familiar villain zone. The character needed more shades to make his control over the town feel frightening beyond the usual dialogue, threats and power moves.
Performances
Aishwarya Rajesh carries the most interesting character track as Bharati. Samuthirakani gives Naidu weight, though the role itself does not give him enough surprise. Naresh Agastya, Sunil Varma, Merin Philip, Sudhakar Komakula, Rajiv Kanakala, Mime Gopi, Rohini and Raja Chembolu fill out the ensemble and help the town feel busy, even when not every supporting thread lands with equal force.
Isakapatnam story and setting
The series is set in a fictional coastal town where port power, illegal trade, political muscle and personal revenge collide. Directed by Garry BH, from a script by Prashant Ragathi with dialogues by Tajuddin Syed, the show has a promising backdrop. The steel-plant and port-town texture gives it an opening identity, but the drama eventually becomes more generic than its setting promises.

Final verdict
Isakapatnam is not a must-watch crime drama, but it is not a dead watch either. Aishwarya Rajesh, a few clean twists and the easy binge length keep it afloat. The writing, however, needed more originality and emotional heat to turn the port-town power struggle into something memorable.
Verdict: Stream it when you want a familiar Telugu crime drama that moves decently. Do not expect the next great gangster saga.
