Joe Locke as Charlie Spring
Joe Locke returns as Charlie Spring, one half of the story’s central couple. The finale begins during a new school year, with Charlie becoming more independent while he and Nick think about what life after school could mean for their relationship.
Kit Connor as Nick Nelson
Kit Connor is back as Nick Nelson. Nick is preparing for university, making the approaching separation and the choices around their future central to the film’s emotional setup. Connor also serves as an executive producer on the finale.
The Truham and Higgs friends return
The wider friendship group remains a major part of the farewell. Yasmin Finney returns as Elle Argent, Will Gao as Tao Xu, Corinna Brown as Tara Jones and Kizzy Edgell as Darcy Olsson. Tobie Donovan is back as Isaac Henderson, Rhea Norwood as Imogen Heaney and Leila Khan as Sahar Zahid.
Jenny Walser returns as Charlie’s sister Tori Spring, alongside Darragh Hand as Michael Holden. Bradley Riches also appears again as James McEwan.
Which teachers and adults are returning?
Fisayo Akinade returns as Mr. Ajayi and Nima Taleghani returns as Mr. Farouk. Eddie Marsan is also back as Geoff Young, Charlie’s therapist. Their presence keeps the finale connected to the support system around the younger characters rather than focusing only on the central romance.
Anna Maxwell Martin replaces Olivia Colman as Sarah Nelson
Anna Maxwell Martin joins the film as Sarah Nelson, Nick’s mother. Olivia Colman played Sarah in Seasons 1 and 2 but was unavailable for the finale. Creator Alice Oseman chose to recast the role instead of removing Sarah from the final chapter.
The change means Sarah remains part of Nick’s story, but viewers will see a new actor in the role. Netflix has not presented Martin as a new character or a replacement mother figure. She is playing the same Sarah Nelson established earlier in the series.
Who does Derek Jacobi play?
Netflix confirms that Derek Jacobi appears in a cameo role, but his character name has not been revealed. The cast guide will be updated if Netflix identifies the role later.
