When does Dark Matter Season 2 release on OTT?
The first episode arrives on August 28, 2026. Apple TV will not release the full season at once. A new episode follows every Friday, which takes the story through a 10-week run and places the finale on October 30.

What is Dark Matter Season 2 about?
The Dessen family begins the season in a world that finally appears safe, but that peace does not last. Jason’s growing fixation on the Box pulls him back toward the machine that opened so many possible lives, while Daniela’s increasing paranoia threatens the family’s fragile stability.
Charlie is searching for some sense of normality as the family is forced to run again. Elsewhere in the multiverse, Amanda and Ryan join forces in a desperate attempt to find their way home. Blair is determined to stop Leighton, whose pursuit of a perfect world gives the new season another dangerous thread.
Who returns in the cast?
Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly return as Jason and Daniela Dessen. Oakes Fegley is back as Charlie, with Alice Braga as Amanda, Jimmi Simpson as Ryan, Amanda Brugel as Blair and Dayo Okeniyi as Leighton.
Our Dark Matter Season 2 cast guide maps every confirmed returning actor to Jason, Daniela, Charlie, Amanda, Ryan, Blair and Leighton.
The ensemble is not simply being pulled back into the same puzzle. Season 2 separates the characters into competing searches for safety, home and control, giving the Box a more personal cost for each of them.
Dark Matter is also getting an official podcast
Dark Matter: The Official Podcast launches alongside Season 2. Showrunner and author Blake Crouch hosts it with executive producer Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry. Episodes will follow the series weekly, with a catch-up instalment planned before the premiere.
The podcast is designed to dig into the season’s major turns, the science behind its multiverse and the choices involved in expanding the story beyond Crouch’s original novel.
