When does The Mandalorian and Grogu release on OTT in India?

The film begins streaming in India on Wednesday, September 2, through JioHotstar. The platform announced the India date, which is also documented by IGN India. Disney and the official Star Wars film page list the same September 2 streaming date for Disney+ markets.

This is a subscription-streaming release rather than a fresh theatrical premiere. The film opened in cinemas on May 22, 2026, and later moved to digital purchase and 4K Ultra HD before reaching subscription streaming. That makes the JioHotstar launch the easiest route for Indian subscribers who skipped the cinema run.

Hindi dub, English audio and runtime

JioHotstar’s India announcement confirms English and Hindi versions. Disney lists the movie at 2 hours 12 minutes, so this is a single feature-length watch rather than a new season or a batch of episodes.

If you are comparing it with the rest of this week’s lineup, the film is also included in our OTT releases in India for August 31 to September 6.

Where the movie fits in The Mandalorian story

The Mandalorian and Grogu continues Din Djarin and Grogu’s story after The Mandalorian Season 3. The New Republic recruits Din as Imperial warlords remain active across the galaxy, turning the duo’s next mission into a cinema-sized continuation of the series rather than a reboot.

Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin. The official Disney movie page also credits Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White, while Jon Favreau directs and produces. Viewers who already know the bond between Din and Grogu can move straight into the film; newcomers will get more from it after understanding why the pair now travel as Mandalorian and apprentice.

The shortest catch-up before pressing play

The most useful preparation is The Mandalorian Season 3, especially its finale, because the film picks up after that chapter. For the fuller journey, watch all three seasons and include the late-season Din-and-Grogu bridge in The Book of Boba Fett. The movie’s May cinema release also appeared in our earlier India theatrical guide for May 22 to May 28.

The simple answer is now locked: September 2 on JioHotstar, in English and Hindi, with one 132-minute adventure waiting instead of another episodic rollout.
